Selby Community Association
Welcome to our Site
The Selby Community Association
(SCA) welcomes you to our official community website. The Selby
Community Association is the not-for-profit organization
responsible for the maintenance, protection and improvement of
our Selby on the Bay community. This site was developed as a
resource to facilitate community, local and statewide interchange
of information. We appreciate your patience as we grow and
redesign our site according to the needs of our community. We
hope that we can keep the information useful and current so as to
help the residents of Selby and others take advantage of the
wonderful advantages and convenience of the Internet.
All work done on this site is done by volunteers so if you would
like to contribute just drop a note to the webmaster
What this site is about
This site is not only for
residents inside the community. Inside these pages you will find
information not only about our community, but also our local area
business and state and local government services. This site
contains over 30 pages of information about our community and our
area along with over 100 useful government, educational and
entertainment links to sites that you may have never known
existed. You will find everything from helpful Internet site
links to ways that you can learn more about the interesting
people in our area. We have extensive history on our community,
Mayo and the entire Edgewater area.
Take some time to read the Mayo Elementary 5th grade book report from 1952 to get a nice perspective on
life in our area in the "good ole" days.
Our Quick
Site Index feature is
the easiest way to navigate through the vast amount of
information and digital photography that resides on this site.
The SCA invites you to use and enjoy this resource and let us
know ideas and suggestions on how we can make this resource work
better for you and all to enjoy.
New Features
We hope to constantly change the format of our site to make it easier to get around the vast amount of information that is located on this site. Our Community Network section is starting to be developed more extensively and we hope that it will be a growing tool that residents can use to interact with each other in our community over the Internet.
We hope to house all of the information pertinent to our community that would be practical and convenient to access from the web on our site. Our information database is constantly growing. It is starting to grow dynamically and with the help of local contributors we will build it into a powerful information tool that is simple to access. If you have any we ask that all residents contribute area-related pictures, stories and historical facts about Selby and the entire Mayo peninsula that is pertinent and we will add it to our website. We wish to make this truly an interactive community site with contributions coming from you - our greatest resource.
Our Community Mailing List
Our Community Mail List has been working for the community for over four years now and today it is made up of over 150 Email addresses of our freinds and residents. Joining our list simply gives you periodic delivery of email relating to the SCA, Selby and lets you know when important events are taking place in our area or when updates have been made on our site. We strive to update our site consistently, but with such a large amount of info - some direction from the mailing list is very helpful. To join our Community Mailing List simply contact The Postmaster
Our Goal
We have accomplished what we originally set out to do - making our site a useful link for the community to use. Our next goal is to establish a network of useful area, community and public information sites, providing all of us with better access of community resources and better inter-community relations.
This inexpensive forum provides us with an excellent means of staying informed in our community and taking advantage of all of the valuable resources hidden here in Southern Maryland and especially in Anne Arundel County.
We hope that this free site is helpful to new residents and old, as well as visitors and residents outside of Selby on the Bay.
Thanks for visiting our site, come back again and please tell your neighbors & friends about this resource.
