Trash Pickup
Trash pickup for Selby is Tuesday and Friday. Friday is the recycling day. Yard waste can be put out on recycling day or it may be taken to a local waste management facility to be made into mulch. Follow this link for location information.
Maximum allowed on the curb is 4 40 gallon containers

Hazardous Household Waste
Hazardous household waste includes solvents, old paint and toxic-based materials. They are collected for free 8 times a year at "Hazardous Household Waste Drop-Off Events". Check The Capital for dates, locations and times. Selby generally has a collection in the Spring at the beach.
Recycling Information
You do not need to separate recycling materials any more. They can all be put into the same container. You do not need to clean out the containers and you can include the labels, caps and lids. You may put out an unlimited amount of recycling. When in doubt...recycle! Recycling containers should be less than 40 pounds. Containers other than yellow recycling containers should be labelled with a large "X".

Paper
Cardboard - boxes, packaging, empty paper towel and toilet tissue holders
Boxes - shoe, toy, beverage cases, six-pack holders
Books - hard and soft cover, magazines, catalogs, telephone books
Sheets of paper - school papers, colored, work papers, craft projects, gift wrapping, tissue, junk mail, envelopes, file folders, shredded paper, newspaper and inserts
(be careful what papers you throw out including bank statements, credit card bills and other things with social security numbers and account numbers on them)
Metal
Tin, steel and aluminum cans such as beverage containers, pet food cans, empty aerosol cans, aluminum foil pans, aluminum foil
Plastics
Bottles and jugs including soda, milk, detergent and shampoo containers, margarine tubs, peanut butter jars and yogurt containers, plastic bags, shrink wrap, plastic cups, plates and utensils, plastic buckets, storage totes, plastic flower pots, plastic furniture, trash cans, old recycling containers, plastic toys, pools and playsets, plastic trays and tubs
Glass
Food and beverage containers including wine bottles and sauce jars
(jars and bottles do not have to be rinsed out and you can include lids, caps and labels)
Yard Waste
Leaves and grass clippings, brush and branches, live Christmas trees and live garland, hay and straw, garden clippings, twigs
(yard waste can be put in a bag and marked with a large and visible "X")
